PHCF - Isolation of Harbour Wall Opening - Continuation of Work
PORT HOPE, Ontario, Canada (September 20, 2024) – Work has been recently completed in the Port Hope harbour specific to the removal of an end-of-pipe screen structure and abandonment of the associated intake and backwash line harbour wall penetrations. In-water works were carried out through to September 14, the end of the designated in-water works window. Most of the planned work was completed, except for final intake pipe isolation and wall penetration repair work.
An extension to the in-water works window has been received to complete the remaining work scope. The work will not interfere with navigation within the Port Hope harbour as navigation into the harbour is prevented due to the adjacent Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) wave attenuator installation. As the remaining work is within the intake pipe and on the harbour wall sheet pile, no impacts to fish or fish habitat are anticipated.
A submission has been added to the on-line Common Project Search registry (http://cps.canada.ca) pursuant to the Canadian Navigable Waters Act. Reference is made to registry number 11634.
