Cameco Fund for Mental Health 2024 awards grants to seven Blind River area organizations
BLIND RIVER, Ontario, Canada (December 16, 2024) – The Cameco Fund for Mental Health has awarded seven grants to organizations in the Blind River area working on mental health projects. This year’s grants will benefit students, caregivers, and families.
The 3rd annual Blind River Refinery Cameco Charity Golf Tournament raised $18,000 for the Cameco Fund for Mental Health.
Since the Cameco Fund for Mental Health launched in 2022 in the Blind River area, it has granted $50,000 including this year’s funds.
“Communities that prioritize mental health create a foundation of inclusivity, reduce stigma and encourage open conversations,” said Terry Davis, general manager of Cameco’s Blind River Refinery. “We thank all applicants for their commitment and acknowledge the support of those who collaborated with us, allowing us to make a positive impact in the Blind River area for mental health.”
Following a call for funding applications in October, submissions were adjudicated by a panel of representatives from Cameco, local mental health experts and the Saskatoon Community Foundation, which is the administrator for the grants.
The 2024 Cameco Fund for Mental Health recipients are:
- Huron Shores Family Health Team
- The Well Ministries
- Blind River Public School
- W.C. Eaket Secondary School
- Blind River Public Library
- Elliot Lake Secondary School
- E.s.c Jeunesse-Nord
