Cameco Announces $18,000 to Support Mental Health Initiatives in the Blind River Area

(Blind River, Ontario, Canada – October 1, 2024) – For a third year, the Cameco Fund for Mental Health has opened its grant application to support mental health organizations and initiatives in the
Blind River area.

Dollars from the fund were raised during Blind River Refinery’s second annual Cameco Charity Golf Tournament held in May, that raised nearly $18,000. Since the Blind River program was launched in 2022, more than $50,000 has been distributed through eight granting opportunities to support local organizations.

“We’re grateful to the support of our community, and the Cameco staff and volunteers who are raising vital funds to support mental health initiatives in the Blind River area,” said Terry Davis, general manager of Cameco’s Blind River Refinery. “Mental health is as important as your physical health, and we are proud to invest in essential programming and services that will support our local residents and community members.”

The Cameco Fund for Mental Health is managed through the Saskatoon Community Foundation. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of local mental health professionals and representatives from Cameco. The grant application is open to registered charities, non-profits, and organized groups. The deadline for online applications is 5 p.m. on October 30, 2024.

All funds will be disbursed to organizations undertaking projects that promote or protect mental health in the Blind River area.
